Another day I'm on my own,
I'm wondering just why I'm starving for a third day in a row.
And this has gotten a little ridiculous,
this cant be the American dream
that you taught me back in high school.
This isn't right, something went wrong
probably a long time ago and my mom
she goes to bed hungry, while she feeds her family,
she cries herself to sleep this isn't right.
They built us up on false hope,
with empty promises in broken homes.
And now we're forced to pay the price
for their mistakes, this isn't right.
This is a fucked up generation
and we cant hold true to beliefs that don't mean shit today
and we'll make it through another day
if we break free from these chains that bind.
And I won't apologize.
I was doing what I thought was right.
You can't make me go back.
I've gone too far to throw this all away.
They built us up on false hope,
with empty promises in broken homes.
And now we're forced to pay the price
for their mistakes, this isn't right.
This is a fucked up generation.
You can't expect much
from a world that's so quick to write you off.
You're better off
just picking up and shipping out and moving on.
This was like every other time
I put my faith in someone else
and watch it all fall apart.
we'll tear it down, brick by brick.
we'll build it up from these ashes
that once meant something to us all.
We can build this back up
with what's left of us:
A junkyard of broken hearts.
For the people, by the people,
and nobody is better than anyone else.
If we can just see that then maybe we could move on
to a brighter future and a brighter day.
And maybe next time you'll try a little harder.
Why cant we be so young and free
when the weight of the world wasn't on our shoulders?
Innocence robbed at a young age. Let's take it back.
We're pushing ourselves towards our own extinction.
If I said I was sorry, would that change a thing?
Too bad, I won't.
Kids getting pregnant at a age I can't comprehend.
What happened to their innocence?
We're pushing ourselves.
And just because I don't speak,
it doesn't mean I don't feel disrespected.
All of these beliefs that I still hold true today.
And I will tell you anything you want to hear
if it will get you through another lonely day.
I may be crazy but at least I tried.
I'm holding onto something deep down.
The time has come to make your voices ring above
everything else until there is nothing in your way.
Hopefully this message is coming in clear
and you'll see there's a brighter future out there.
Don't hold me down, I can almost touch the ground
and when that time comes, I'm gonna hit the ground and run away.
The time has come and who will you want standing on your side?
because I won't be around, and I'm glad that
Don't hold me down, I can almost touch the ground
and when that time comes, I'm gonna hit the ground and run away.
Fight for another day.
